The activities listed below are not only available on winter holidays. Most of them are available during the all wintertime and some of them are even available in other seasons.

What to do during New Year and Christmas in Tahko Hills?

1. Skiing and snowboarding.
   Tahko is one of the best ski resorts in Finland, with slopes of various difficulty levels for skiers and snowboarders, a great school for children, beginners and those who want to improve their skiing level, excellent lifts, including carpet lifts. Read more on the page
2.  Cross-country skiing.
   They usually start the first ski trail in November, and from the beginning of December (the start of the ski season) the length of the prepared lighted cross-country ski tracks gradually increases. Some tracks are laid on the surface of the lake when the ice is already strong enough for this. Some of these tracks run on the surface of the lake, which you can see right from the window of Tahko Hills.
3. Snowmobiling.
   Tahko is famous for its huge number of prepared snowmobile trails. You can come with your own snowmobile or rent one. Renting usually involves travelling under the control of instructors along a certain pre-planned route. With your own snowmobile you can ride on the trails. Please take care of yourself and observe the main rule: no alcohol before and during a snowmobile trip.
4. Hiking trails.
   There are also many of them in Tahko and they are of different lengths and levels of difficulty. In winter, be sure to use snowshoes (you can rent them). You will find recreation area where you can have a picnic or warm up by the fire.
5. What about the opportunity to ride a bicycle on a snowy track?
   Of course, you will need a special bike with studded tyres. You can rent one from Hill Ski Rent , Sähkis.fi , Tahko Safaris and SkiMac Tirol. The same companies also maintain the pistes for skiing.
6. Ice skating.
   The ice rink in the centre of Tahko is an excellent 30x50 metre ice rink and is lit daily from 6am to 10pm. Bring your skates and have an unforgettable time with your family. Visiting the rink is free of charge, no need to book in advance. Skate rental is not available. There is no warm changing room, but you can change your shoes right next to the rink on the bench.
7. Karting on ice.
   Tahko Jääkarting is suitable for all age groups. Only available when the ice is already thick enough (mostly often from mid-January to the end of March). Excellent safe vehicles that have adjustable pedals and can be used even by children. It is better to book the opportunity to ride in advance. The routes are designed for different ride durations (from 30 minutes, up to 2 hours). Equipment is provided on the spot: helmets, overalls (you can also bring your own). Be sure to bring warm shoes and gloves.
8. Heated tub.
   There is nothing more pleasant than after a long walk in the winter air to bath in a hot tub with a overlooking the snowy forest and frozen lake. Terraces of some Tahko Hills cottages are equipped with a hot tub. Think about heating the tub in advance and jump immediately after the sauna. You will have a great opportunity to take a hot bath while enjoying the beautiful views.
9. Ice sledges.
   Going on holiday with children? Great. Children will be gladly able to ride on sledges right in the village. Several pieces per each cottage are provided.
10. Cafés and restaurants.
    If you decide to spend this New Year's Eve away from home, but in some noisier place in a restaurant or bar, there are plenty of places in Tahko where you can have a festive dinner with an animation program. 11. Tahko Spa is a small but very cosy spa center.
    In Tahko Spa you can swim in the swimming pool, relax in Jacuzzi after sauna, have a massage or face and body treatments. You can also go bowling or squash, have lunch or dinner. 12. Recently constructed the Metsäkylpylä Lähde forest aqua centre on the top of the Tahko offers several saunas of different types in nature and several pools (including warm water) with gorgeous views.
