What is Tahko Bike Park?

Tahko Bike Park is Finland’s leading downhill mountain biking center, located in Northern Savo.
It combines stunning natural scenery, carefully designed trails, and high-quality services for cyclists of all skill levels.
The Bike Park offers adrenaline for thrill-seekers and is also suitable for family holidays, where active recreation can be perfectly combined with a summer vacation.

10 trails, 3 lifts, and a training area for beginners

Bike Park Zone: speed and challenges

  • 6 marked downhill trails (trails 1-6) with varying difficulty levels, from easy to advanced.
  • Longest trail: 1,5 km of downhill riding.
  • A four-seat chairlift comfortably takes you and your bike to the top.
  • Ideal for experienced riders and those seeking speed and steep slopes.

Mini Mountain Zone: for beginners and training

  • 3 beginner-friendly trails (trails 7-9).
  • Trainee Zone is a training area for safely getting to know the bike park.
  • Covered conveyor lift and a button lift for easy uphill access.
  • Separate ticket type and a safe environment for children and first-time riders.

Please note: Lifts do not operate during thunderstorms or heavy rain. The last lift ride is 15 minutes before closing.
Tickets are available in the Tahko Mountain online shop or at the ticket machine at the lower lift station.

Tips for Beginners

Which trail should you start with?

  • First time at a bike park? Start at the Mini Mountain Zone (trails 7–9), designed to be safe and easy.
  • Practice first in the Trainee Zone to learn basic skills without pressure.
  • Once you feel confident, try the easiest Bike Park trail (trail 1).
  • For experienced riders: trails 4–6 offer speed and technical challenges.

Do you need prior experience?

  • Not necessarily! The Mini Mountain Zone is suitable for complete beginners.
  • If you have never ridden downhill trails, we recommend taking lessons or private coaching.
  • Tahko offers training for all skill levels.

Safety and protective equipment

Is protective equipment obligatory?

  • A helmet is obligatory in all areas.
  • Strongly recommended: knee and elbow pads, gloves, and back protection.
  • On Bike Park trails (1-6), a full-face helmet and full protective equipment are recommended..

Is instruction or an introductory course available?/strong>

  • Yes. Tahko Bike Park offers open training sessions at Mini Mountain.
  • Private and group courses, as well as organized tours, are available.
  • Training is provided on all operating days; group sessions can also be arranged outside regular hours.

Weather and best season

When is the best time to visit?

  • The Bike Park operates during the summer season (exact schedules are available at tahko.com).
  • Best period: June-August, when the weather is warm and nature is at its peak.
  • In autumn (September), you can enjoy stunning fall foliage, and riding continues if weather conditions allow.
  • Winter: Surprisingly, Tahko is also suitable for winter cycling with wide-tire (fat) bikes. Beginners can enjoy a 3 km circular route, while experienced riders can ride the full 13 km trail.

What if it rains?

  • Lifts do not operate during thunderstorms or heavy rain for safety reasons.
  • Tahko offers many indoor activities: spa centers, restaurants, and attractions.
  • You can also explore other summer activities in Tahko, such as hiking, golf, and lake excursions.

Tahko rental shops offer high-quality bikes for the Bike Park for both adults and children. In addition to bicycles, a wide range of protective equipment is available.
